"Thank you for visiting our page! I’m Dr. Aastha Dheer, a neuroscientist passionate about understanding neurological disorders particularly epilepsy and neuroglial interactions. My goal is to uncover the mechanisms behind neurological disorders and contribute to better diagnostic and therapeutic strategies. If you share a curiosity for neuroscience or are looking to collaborate, I’d love to connect!"
About Me
I have been fortunate to work in the field of epilepsy research for several years. My journey started with a PhD in Life Sciences from Defence Institute of Physiology and Allied Sciences, DRDO, India, where I studied the role of glial cells in neurodegeneration due to hypobaric hypoxia. Later, at Centre of Excellence for Epilepsy, AIIMS, New Delhi, I explored drug-resistant epilepsy. Most recently, as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA. My work focused on studying microglia’s role in seizures using advance techniques like chemogenetics.
I am honored to receive the prestigious Ramalingaswami Re-Entry Fellowship (2024) from DBT, Government of India. With this, at the Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence, India, I aim to build a strong research program on epilepsy, glial-neuron interactions, and biomarker discovery, collaborating with leading institutions, and mentoring young scientists to drive impactful research that address critical gaps in epilepsy research.
I strongly believe that scientific progress happens through collaboration, and I welcome opportunities to work with clinicians, researchers, and computational biologists who share a passion for unraveling the mysteries of the brain.
If you're interested in working with us, discussing ideas or potential collaborations, feel free to reach out!
Best wishes,
